Part of the reason I haven’t been keeping up with krazykoolkrap these days is having to manage all the spam comments I am was recieving. Thank God that I found Akismet. I installed it last early last week and I haven’t had a single comment spam yet.

October 5th, 2006Only in Europe:
In 2007, Opel will launch the Flex-Fix system as an option on its Antara and Corsa models. The system is a retractable two bike rack that slides in-and-out of the bumper. It’s completely concealed and allows users to avoid strapping those bitchy straps everywhere. This needs to be an option on US cars immediately. Write your congress people, or something.

Do they even sell Opel in the US? How can we write congress people on a car that isn’t sold in the US. Oh, should be put this on a Ford? Yeah right! Maybe a Japanese company will take care of making something like this available to us because U.S. car makers are just fucking dumb and never take the initiative to deliver an option like this.

October 5th, 2006Retail sales rise sharply in September (AP)
AP - Shoppers, encouraged by cooler temperatures and falling gasoline prices, went on a shopping spree in September, giving many retailers better-than-expected gains and lifting the industry’s spirits two months before the holiday season. A notable exception was Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
Of course you all have read that I have on a number of occasions I visited Walmart to find that they were out of jalapeños but this last weekend’s trip was the kicker. I couldn’t find any celery!?!? WTF Walmart? You had plenty of fresh dill (what????), but no celery. Maybe the "Superstore" idea wasn’t your best.

Empty Shelves
June 14th, 2006The wife and I live at Walmart. We are there at least four to five days out of the week for odds and ends. Being a seasoned Walmart shopper, I know that one should shop early on weekends because by mid-afternoon the shelves can become quite empty. What I don’t understand is when specific things aren’t stocked. In New Mexico there are a couple of things that need to be stocked at all times. Pinto beans, jalapenos, salsa, tortilla chips, re-fried beans, and tortillas are mandatory in stock, on the shelves items for any grocery store in New Mexico. Hell I think even most convenience stores keep all these items in stock as well including limes for all the Corona purchases.
Yesterday I stopped to get a few things, milk, salsa, chips, mac and cheese, and cereal. We are very picky about salsa and only buy the "Not so hot" Sadies brand. No big surprise, they were sold out. Ok, well hell let’s just make our own. Onions, check! Diced tomatoes, check! Tomato puree, check! Garlic, check! All we need now is some Jalapenos. I get over in the produce section and there are no jalapeno peppers to be found. Now I am just damn furious. I love to cook and one gripe I have with Albuquerque is that it is almost impossible to find certain ingredients. I am not talking about exotic ingredients, I’m talking about things like pancetta, cannelini beans, and imported Italian tomatoes. I know these are Italian and I’m living in a Hispanic influenced state so I just let these things slide, but now no jalapenos? When will the madness end? I live in New Mexico and I can’t buy the ingredients needed to make salsa. Does anyone else see a problem here??
I guess my only option is to shop at a real grocery store and to ditch Walmart. Walmart may suck but I have done tests and shopping there saves me around $80 every visit compared to shopping at Smiths, so I guess I’m screwed either way.

June 2nd, 2006So, I finally setup a myspace profile and added a few friends. I have had an account there for quite sometime, only for the reason of spying on my oldest daughter. She’s 16, can you blame me? She knows that I spy on her and she makes sure there isn’t anything incriminating so its pretty useless, but at least I can monitor what pictures she makes public.
I know the draw of myspace and I think the creator was a genius, but me being a techie kind of guy, I pretty much have come to the conclusion that myspace sucks ass! I’m not going to go into why I think it sucks because you can find info like that all over the web. Check here!
What I did find interesting is that not a single person from my graduating HS class is on myspace. Now granted, they would have to actually fill out that part in thier profile so maybe they don’t want people to know where they went to high school, or just don’t give a shit. Or, it could be that myspace search just plain sucks. Ok, I know I said I wasn’t going to go into this but this is my blog damn it! When I’m looking for someone on myspace I actually use Google because I can’t seem to find anyone using their search. You would figure that having a good search would be a pretty big priority. Also, the instant messaging has been broken forever. If they aren’t going to fix it just remove it, everyone is used to it not being there by now.
Well, I can bitch and moan all I like but it doesn’t change the fact that I have succumbed to the devil that is myspace. If you are one of the devil’s children like me feel free to add me as a friend.
