Energy Drinks
One can only resist for so long… Red Bull, Monster, Monster Assault, Diablo, Pimp Juice, Adrenaline Rush, No Fear, Bawls, 5-Hour Energy, Rockstar, NOS, Guru, Liquid Ice, Killer Buzz and literally about 200 more brands out there pulling in over $1 billion last year in sales. Which one is the best? Well, about 90% of all these drinks are Red Bull knock-offs. Red Bull first hit the market in 1987 but didn’t really become popular in the US until a decade later. Now Red Bull is the leading brand, selling over 2 billion cans in 2005. While I do drink Red Bull, I think it tastes like krap! I found that the best tasting energy drinks are the ones made by Sobe (Adrenaline Rush, and No Fear). Only gripe I have is that the sugar free versions are very hard to find in a 4-pack. Actually the sugar free versions of almost all, save Red Bull, are pretty hard to find in a 4-pack. My initial fear and why I used to bad mouth all these drinks is because of the "adverse effects" possibility. I mean do we actually know what kind of long term effects could ensue from drinking these things? Already there are countries that have banned energy drinks (France, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden) and according to this statement we could be in trouble.
According to regulatory guidelines, the cans must bear warnings that no more than 500 mililiters of the product be consumed in one day, it should not be mixed with alcohol, or consumed by children or pregnant women. A spokeswoman for Health Canada said the agency is reviewing four complaints from people who have had adverse reactions to Red Bull that included dizziness, vomiting and abdominal pain.
Well, I figure I missed out on the class action law suit against the tobacco companies so here’s my chance to get in on one. Check out this site for great reviews of many energy drinks. I’m looking forward to trying Bawls, I mean who wouldn’t?
Update: Finally our local Smith’s and Walmart are now carrying the four packs of the low-carb version of Sobe No Fear.

I would recommend a Class Action suit against Red Bull for the more obvious reason: Fals Advertising. I have drunk Hundreds of cans of the stuff. I STILL have no wings, not even a feather.
